What You’ll Learn

Students who complete the program will learn to:
- Search the Internet
- Use Microsoft Office at a professional level
- Type a minimum of 35 net words per minute (NWPM) with five or fewer errors
- Perform administrative tasks such as trip planning, file management, and preparing payroll
- Create letters, memos, and reports with proper business formatting
- Answer phone calls and take messages

To be eligible, you must:
- Students must be 18 years or older
- Complete an NOCE Admissions Application
- Complete online general orientation at least 24 hours before registering
- Recommended: Have basic English language reading, writing, and speaking skills, and/or be at an ESL Intermediate High level

Dr. Riffat Ahmed is an IT leader with 20+ years of experience in enterprise IT, cybersecurity, software development, project management, and higher education. His extensive background in technology includes early roles as an IT officer and progressively higher positions as an IT manager, system operations engineer, and senior software engineer.![]()
Today, Dr. Ahmed is the Senior Application Project Lead at Alight Solutions. In this role, he leads software development and release management initiatives for one of the world’s largest SaaS providers. In addition, Dr. Ahmed has shared his vast knowledge and expertise with local community colleges as a SharePoint consultant and adjunct faculty member.
Dr. Ahmed has taught at North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE) since 2012. He is a go-to instructor for CTE’s computer science and information technology courses, including Microsoft Office, cybersecurity, software development, cloud computing, and more.
As a professor and a full-time software development project manager, he brings real-world IT experiences into the classroom. Whether leading a global integration project or helping a student land their first tech job, his mission is to empower people with the tools and knowledge they need to grow.
Dr. Ahmed holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Healthcare Management from Walden University. He also earned dual master’s degrees in Cybersecurity and Information Technology from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Independent University, Bangladesh. As a Career Technical Education instructor for over 20 years, Marjio Prey believes learning is a collaborative and empowering experience. Originally from the Philippines, Marijo began her teaching journey at the university level before transitioning to corporate training and eventually teaching at the community college level. Since 2005, she has been a vital part of the North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE) faculty, specializing in keyboarding, Microsoft Office Suite, and essential office technology skills.![]()
Marijo does her best to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and seeking guidance. Her genuine care motivates students from all walks of life to push their limits and achieve their full potential.

Enrique is a firm believer in lifelong learning and workforce equity. He’s built a career around empowering adult learners with the digital skills they need to thrive in today’s workforce. With over two decades of experience in Career Technical Education (CTE), Enrique brings a mix of technical expertise, genuine care for his students, and real-world perspective to his teaching.![]()
Currently a Digital Literacy Instructor at North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE), Enrique teaches adults how to navigate computer basics, office applications, and online safety. His work is more than instructional: it’s transformational. He’s especially passionate about helping displaced workers gain confidence, upskill quickly, and return to the workforce stronger than before.
Before joining NOCE in 2013, Enrique served for 22 years at the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Division of Adult and Career Education, where he taught business applications and advised on CTE programs. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Adult Education from Cal State Long Beach and a Master’s in School Administration from Concordia University Irvine, along with a California State Teaching Credential in Computer Applications.
